We left this morning after the rain subsided a little (its still freezing), we got into the channel and decided to turn around and get the prop checked out. The noise (an intermittent vibration/shuddering) was still there, no better no worse. We figured while we are here at a place that can haul us out, if need be, we might as well get some piece of mind.
We had someone on the boat by 1pm, and he checked out everything he could from the inside. He determined that since there wasn't anything that he could hear or feel from the inside that it probably didn't have anything to do with the straight shaft, he seemed to think everything was fine, and having us haul out would be a waste of time and money. He told us to just keep an ear out in case it gets worse, but that he was sure our boat wasn't going to fall apart!
We also got to see DJ who use to work and live aboard at MacDougalls, he now works at the marina where we got our boat checked out. He was nice enough to let us borrow his car so we could get some groceries.
We were back on board by 3ish and decided to head out. We only went a short way, just to cover some ground, and ended up anchoring right off of Point No Point. We basically just pulled over to a rest stop on the side of the road and dropped the anchor. We will be protected from the W winds tonight and we won't have to travel far to get into the heart of the bay tomorrow.
