What a great day! There are some times in your life when you can step back and say that was a perfect day, and this one is up there. We got to go fishing on Uncle Bobby's new boat. We traveled to Cape Lookout Bight which is one of the nicest natural harbors out there and beautiful empty beaches.
We packed a big picnic and made the trip out to the bight taking the inside (local knowledge only) route where we saw tons of dolphins and pelicans. I can never get enough of seeing wild dolphins. Once we got there, we tried to do a bit of fishing, but the fish just weren't biting. Deason and Bobby dropped the rest of us off on shore and hoped that they would have had better luck fishing with out us. They didn't have luck, but Chris had some luck catching small mullet bait fish with the casting net. He was so excited! He now wants to buy multiple casting nets, he is addicted. Kristin and I didn't have that same luck, the casting net is harder to do than it looks. We now just have to learn how to use those bait fish to catch larger fish that we can actually eat!
Deason got to drive Bobby's boat back to Beaufort, and we took the outside route along Shackleford Banks (one of the barrier islands) on the way back. He was definitely in his element!
