Freezing! We left Annapolis in the later part of the morning. The temperatures were in the 40's this morning and we were hoping that it might warm up a little. No such luck, the temp did get in the 50's but it really didn't feel much different once we were out on the water. We made a short run down to Solomons Island. The wind was strange all day, it was out of the W at 12-20 knots with some sustained gusts in the 30's. We were sailing along quite nicely, but then we would get these 5-10 minutes of heavy winds. We kept reefing, and then letting things back out. When the wind was in the 20's we were doing over 8.5 knots of speed, which is good for us. I guess that sort of wind pattern is common for the Chesapeake.
We arrived after 6pm and anchored in Back Creek, the spot we found was small but well protected! The bad thing about today (aside from it being very cold) was before we put the sails up Chris had heard the same noise coming from our port side prop, so we might get that checked out in the morning at the marina around the corner.
