Notice Dahlia is wearing a hat and sunglasses, it feels like a miracle. I fought with her all last year just to try and get her to keep a hat on, now all of a sudden on her own she gladly puts it on. Her sunglasses too, she puts them on and says "yeah baby", although it sounds more like "aahh beebie"!

I also have to blame Fenway, they have this silly policy where they stop serving at the end of the 7th inning. You would think that this would be a good thing, but it only makes people stock pile, and chug as much as they can before the 7th. All the policy accomplishes is an excess of binge drinking. Maybe my expectations of people are just too high!

We finally got to take the boat out and didn't have to turn right back around. Everything seems to be working great! The harbor was bright and sunny so we headed out around 11:30. Once we were out of the harbor the fog was unexpectedly thick. I felt like we were in the movies, you could hear all the fog horns blowing around us, and even the sound of the ferry motors as we were passing by Woods Hole, but we couldn't see more than a few hundred feet around us. I was scared, but Chris was unfazed. GPS and radar aside....I like to see where I am going.
As soon as we pulled in to Tarpaulin Cove it was clear as day, just like it had been in Falmouth harbor. We anchored in the cove, had some lunch, and watched the fog lift out in Vineyard Sound. We were starting to feel a little disheartened with the recent weather, and having to have the heat on constantly since we got back aboard, but this was the perfect pick me up. Except for the fog, it was a perfect day.
We sailed back to the dock at a leisurely 5 knots, and tied up feeling like completely different people. It was like getting a reboot to the system. Thank you nice weather, for finally arriving!

There hasn't been much to tell lately, the weather has been dismal and we have had the heat on constantly. The weather picked up slightly enough for us to take the dinghy out, Deason can pilot better than I can. He had the dinghy planing out in Vineyard Sound with Chris and Dahia. It was too cold for me out in the open water so we stayed in the harbor for our boat ride. Dahlia seemed to like it, she wanted to stay in the dinghy for another ride.
The only other thing that has been going on is these tree swallows that have made a nest in the sailboat that is moored near us, and sometimes come and sit on our lifelines. The birds are cute, but not that exciting....unless you are under 2yrs old!

We have spent the past few nights on the boat, and it is all starting to come together. It is truly amazing how much stuff we accumulated in the six months that we were at the condo. We passed on most of the extra stuff to others, and now we are just trying to get the rest organized and stored on the boat.
Deason has got right back into the swing of things here at MacDougalls. Our first day moving stuff onto the boat, he went out on a sea trial with Boston Yacht Sales and some of the guys from the marina. It was a beautiful 40ft Backcove, and when asked if he would take this boat if it was given to him, he said "maybe". He is picky when it comes to boats. He told me that he would like to trade our boat in for a center console. I asked him "where would we sleep?", he said "you can sleep in the head." Hopefully, it never comes to that!

Cleaning...packing....moving....unpacking....cleaning! That will be the next few days. We are all looking forward to getting onto the boat, our new slip is great. We are at the end of the basin, and it should be nice and quiet there! As you can see the weather has been pretty grey, but at least the temps have come up a bit!
