Oct 30, 2010

Well, we are pretty much all moved into the condo, we really didn't have that much stuff to move. There is so much space here....I almost feel lost. One cool thing about this condo is the finished basement with a foosball table. Chris has beaten us all, and I realized that when he use to come home from the fire station and complain of being tired because he had worked all night, he was really tired because he had been playing ping-pong and foosball all night. That is why he is so good at it! I should have known!!
So, Dahlia got her first black eye! Hopefully, her only! Yes, she fell...people keep asking us, as if there would be another reason for a 1yr old to have a black eye! You can see it pretty good in this picture.
This week MacDougall's will be getting the boat winterized, and ready to haul! Then we will count down the days until May 1, when we move back aboard.

Deason and Aidan took Doodlebug out for one last hoorah before she gets puts in Grampa's back yard for the winter. They rowed out into the harbor, dropped anchor, and tried to catch some fish! They were unsuccessful in trying to catch any dinner, but they had fun rowing around and setting the anchor multiple times.

It is amazing how different kids can be. When Deason was young he was fascinated by cars, trucks, and any big machinery. Dahlia loves animals, ALL animals. We went to Coonamessett farm, and Dahlia tried to feed her fingers to every animal we saw. Thankfully, we left the farm with all ten fingers attached.
While the weather here hasn't been that bad, the boat's heater is getting a good work out! The boat is quite drafty, and it doesn't help that it is resting in cold water. Which means that the heat has been on constantly for the past week, night and day. I will still be sad to leave the boat for the winter. We move into our condo this weekend, and it will be bittersweet!

We are between two condos, and I would have thought that at this point if we didn't have a definite place to stay I would be stressed. Strangely, I am not. It really hasn't been that bad on the boat. It gets cold walking down the dock some nights, but the heat on the boat works great. We spent a few hours at the beach yesterday. Sadly, we had to wear much more clothing than the regular beach apparel. Chris is permanently in a winter hat, but that is only because his head gets cold without hair.

We went out fishing with some friends on their boat. The kids had a blast. Deason got to drive the boat, and Dahlia got to hang out with Cole and play with the bait fish. She seemed to think they were great swimming around in the tank, but not so great when they flapped in her hand. She only touched them once.

What made the day even better is the fact that I was the only one to catch a fish!
Yes, I am that competitive, especially with Chris.

What a day! We went out for a little ride today. No sailing, our genoa is stored away and our main sail is still lashed down from when Hurricane Earl was coming. So, we just motored around for a while to check and see if the generator is in fact fixed. And...it worked great.
We went over to Vineyard Haven, poked around in the harbor for a while, and then came back. Chris and I were both tempted to just keep going.
It was great to get off the dock today, even just for a few hours!

Had a great visit with Grammy, Grampy, and Great Grammy! Wish they could have stayed longer, at least it stopped raining for their visit.
